  • About Me

The three-dimensional world in which we live has always astounded me. Travel has nurtured within a fascination with languages, nature, culture, places, timeframes, climates and people. As long as I can remember, I have been interested in how humans interact with the world in which we live. This life-long exploration is in no way limited to cities, but also towns, villages, rural settings and even nomadism.

I love traveling; learning languages and experiencing cultures. I studied in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. for the final year of my town planning degree. I have also completed a one year French course as part of my degree and I aspire to be fluent in as many languages as possible… I have my work cut out! Currently the countries which I have visited include USA, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Greece, Albania and Ireland.

My experiences and education have formed me into an urban designer who seeks to create places that are on a human scale; I believe urban areas should primarily be places built for people, not vehicles. Many of Europe’s cities boast highly vibrant and characterful centres and neighbourhoods, yet last century the pandering to the requirements of vehicular traffic has threatened or destroyed significant proportions of these precious assets. While cars are still ‘new’ in terms of human urban history, their negative effects on our villages, towns and cities are all too evident. Yet we continue to readily accommodate them. Realistically, motorised road traffic is not about to disappear, though we can minimise the need for car journeys and even car ownership, by designing places that are on a human scale.

I like many sports: ice hockey, football, swimming, rugby, cycling, rock climbing, bouldering and squash, to name a few, and will always have a go at something new!
